A tale of passion, jealousy and murder set in the heat of the Spanish sun, Carmen tells the story of the naive soldier Don José who falls hopelessly in love with the free-spirited and fiery gypsy Carmen. Not content to be suffocated by an over-jealous lover, Carmen succumbs to the overtures of the glamorous toreador Escamillo, pushing the soldier to the brink of despair with devastating consequences.

Featuring Carmen’s captivating Habanera and Seguidilla, as well as the classic Toreador’s Song, Oxford Operatic Society brings the hustle, bustle and tensions of the scorching, dusty Seville streets to the Oxford Playhouse in this vivid and magnificent production
